Arestat-R™ - for stabilisation of proteins against ionising radiation

Radiation damageIonising radiation is often used to sterilise medical devices and could be used to sterilise therapeutic proteins. However, radiation of this type and intensity is very damaging to proteins.

Arestat-R™ technology allows retention of protein activity and structural integrity during sterilising radiation both in aqueous and in dry formulations.

Arestat-R™ technology is based on protection of the most vulnerable amino acids of the protein against the high-energy species formed during interaction of the radiation with the medium (eg water).

Arestat-RArestat-R™ technology works through harmless excipients added to the protein sample. The selection of the excipients is based on their specifically defined structural characteristics and on their ability to interact with the high-energy species.
