Arestat™ comprises two fundamentally different aspects of
our platform stabilization technology. Both utilize excipients
and buffers approved by the FDA and EMEA in an unconventional
manner to achieve the desired stability.
Both platform technologies are available for licensing for applications involving
therapeutic proteins, vaccines, medical devices and diagnostics.
Arecor’s objective is to develop stable advanced formulations
through the application of Arestat™ that are commercially
relevant for their industrial partners. Arecor therefore seeks
partners with therapeutic or diagnostic candidates that are :
(i) difficult to stabilize through conventional formulation methods or
(ii) which could benefit from a change in presentation such as a
'lyophilized powder in vials' to 'ready-to-use liquid in pre-filled
syringes' or
(iii) an aqueous solution with instructions to 'store refrigerated at
2-8°C' being available as 'store at room temperature'.
Our aim is to address the stability issues which may seem
insurmountable and bring stabilized products into clinical
development as early as possible. We understand that every
month lost in development is a month of revenue lost post
marketing authorization.
Arecor is seeking partners interested in the development of
new or off-patent (or near patent expiry) biologics for whom
they can develop advanced formulations with superior stability
profiles. Examples of some partnered projects are listed below:
| Example | Route of Administration | Presentation | Objective |
|---|
| Biodefense vaccine | Subcutaneous or IM | Liquid | Significantly improved shelf life |
| Clotting factors | Infusion i.v. | Liquid | Stable aqueous preparation to replace powder for reconstitution |
| Follow-on biologic | Subcutaneous | Liquid | Patent extension with improved formulation |
| High conc mAbs | Subcutaneous | Liquid | Improved delivery |
| High conc. hormone | Subcutaneous | Liquid | More convenient presentation stable at room temperature |
| In-dwelling sensor | Subcutaneous | Dry | Terminal sterilization; stable at 37°C (body temperature) |
| Polysacchride vaccine | Subcutaneous | Liquid | Stable outside the cold chain at 37°C |
| Protein Depot | Subcutaneous | Dry | Terminal sterilization; depot stable at 37°C (body temperature) |
| Single Chain Antibody | Ophthalmic | Liquid | Stable at 2-8°C with <4% aggregation |
| Therapeutic enzyme | Infusion | Liquid | Stable aqueous preparation to replace powder for reconstitution |
| Topical Protein | Patch | Liquid | Stable at 37°C (body temperature) |
| Virus-like particle | Subcutaneous | Liquid | Stable outside the cold chain at 37°C |
