Therapeutic protein in a solid delivery system
Partner: a company with an innovative needle-free delivery system, which is used to inject solid doses subcutaneously.
Problem: a therapeutic protein required exposure to ionising radiation, which is typically used in the sterilisation of medical devices. This irradiation, however, severely damaged the protein, as shown by reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
Strategy: Arestat-R™ technology was used to stabilise the protein.
Results:
- after stabilisation, the integrity of the protein was preserved, as measured by HPLC and other analytical methods.
