Arestat™ comprises two fundamentally different aspects of
our platform stabilization technology. Both utilize excipients
and buffers approved by the FDA and EMEA in an unconventional
manner to achieve the desired stability.
Both platform technologies are available for licensing for applications involving
therapeutic proteins, vaccines, medical devices and diagnostics.
Arecor has presently built over a dozen separate patent families covering the Company’s
core proprietary technologies for stabilization of biologicals and applications
on specific products. These patent applications, together with the Company’s proprietary
know-how, provides Arecor with several options which can be used singly or in combination
to confer effective patent protection for individual biologics, or classes of biologics.
Patent applications cover Arestat-R™ (protection during exposure to ionizing radiation),
as well as, Arestat-T™ (protection against thermal or concentration induced degradation).
Since specific degradation pathways may be more or less important in the case of
specific proteins, the relative importance of each patent application may vary by
protein.
Arecor is working with both UK and US patent advisors to ensure that patent
applications clearly disclose the novelty of the core inventions. Arecor’s clients
can benefit through patented formulations incorporating Arestat™.
Arecor’s IP strategy
is designed to significantly limit the competitors’ ability to develop formulations
which can achieve the same objectives through the similar means.
